thermoplastic web is formed by injecting spaced parallel air channels into the body of theweb as it is extruded through an elongated exit orifice. A die incorporates a plurality ofspaced air injection grooves, core pins, or channels 20-28 supported from a commoncentral mandrel 29 adjacent exit orifice 13, and produces a film shown in cross-sectionwith channels 70. In a modification a die for extruding a three-ply film has threethermoplastic material extruders 74, 10 and 75 supplying channels 70, 60 and 73respectively. Channels 70 and 73 communicate with annular rings 71 and 72 respectively,and the composite stream moves past the ring of core pins 40 and 63 to exit orifice 13.The core pins are staggered alternately radially inwards and outwards so as to formchannels between central film 82 and outer film 80 and inner film 81 alternately.
