摘要：There is provided a parking assist system which allows setting of a parkingtarget position and a guiding path for parking with high precision and in a shorter periodof time, thus allowing further reduction in the trouble for the driver in parking. Theparking assist system assists the maneuvering for moving a vehicle (30) to a reverse start
position (P1), then moving it in reverse from the reverse start position (P1) to apredetermined parking position (E) in a manner as follows. A parking target settingsection sets a parking target position (P4) corresponding to the predetermined parkingposition (E), based upon a parking reference (W1, W2) detected based on image datacaptured from the scene around the vehicle (30). A parking path calculating sectionsequentially calculates a parking path (KB) from a present position of the vehicle (30) tothe parking target position (P4), in the course of forward movement along a forwardpath (KF). A parking path determining section determines whether an effective parkingpath (KB) has been established or not, based upon result of calculation by the parkingpath calculating section.
